Chef Pamela Anne immersed herself in gourmet cooking over twenty years ago. Reading Bon Appetit, Food & Wine, The Joy of Cooking and watching cooking shows presented by Julia Child and Martha Stewart gave Chef Pamela Anne a great foundation upon which to build. Working and living in downtown Chicago allowed her to experience fine dining and trendy restaurants frequently. In order to elevate her knowledge Chef Pamela Anne received a formal culinary education at The Cooking & Hospitality Institute of Chicago now known as Le Cordon Blue. Education continued over the next couple of decades with numerous opportunities while traveling to her family’s winter home in San Miguel de Allende Mexico training with notable Chef Marge Poore. On board the Azamara Quest en route to Spain Executive Chef Fabio D’Agosto taught Chef Pamela Anne all about innovative entertaining menus.
Once moving out to the lovely Fox Valley area in 1990 to raise her family the continued love of cooking now surrounded her family. While continuing to take cooking lessons and joining several gourmet groups Chef Pamela Anne began experimenting with many types of cuisine. Because she believes in “Variety is the Spice of Life” the dinner plate had many exciting creations to stimulate interest and allow good healthy nutrition to be only a fork away for her family and guests. At a young age her sons loved the “appetizer” plate Chef Pamela Anne would arrange for them when returning from school. The afternoon snack was never filled with refined sugar and salty, greasy empty calorie choices. Dinner time has always been served around the table regardless of hectic schedules. This is valuable time to reconnect with her family.
Chef Pamela Anne knew she was on to something when entertaining at her home. Guests always want her recipes and the gourmet buffets served had friends hoping they were on the next invitation list. Planning gourmet dinner parties, arranging beautiful tablescapes and welcoming guests became second nature for Chef Pamela Anne.
After being a stay at home mom for ten years Chef Pamela Anne went back to school to get her master’s degree in education. Working in the school district wearing many hats was satisfying. But, Chef Pamela Anne knew she wanted something more out of her career. Viola! The idea was born to become a Certified Personal Chef and combine her love of teaching and food. Simply Go Gourmet is Chef Pamela Anne’s avenue to continue educating people about simple healthy fabulous meals to get the on the go family back around the dinner table.
